Therapy Essentials Regardless of Age

Hello awesome SLPs and SLP related professionals!!!!  It's Coach April here with a photo to share with you!!!!  These two "partners in crime" have gone to many different settings with the staff and me and regardless of the setting, they are well-liked............sometimes even more than us!  Certainly, these are an instant hit with the pediatrics, but did you know we have gotten more from dementia and Alzheimer's patients with these two characters?  So many memories about how clothing was made in the early 1900s, quilting patterns, and other cognitive-language tasks that develop from patients looking at "The Old Lady (Who Swallowed a Fly)."  *Sidebar:  Yes, the doll comes with all of the animals that she ate in the story and you can stuff them into her belly!*  When patients look at "This Old Man," they often talk about their years in farming, tending to a garden, and even the types of farming hats that their family members wore!   These two are a MUST HAVE for any therapist!

Here's the SLP question of the day:  What is your "essential therapy tool/object?"  I want to hear yours!  Please email me your "therapy essentials," regardless of your practice setting!  Send your email to april@thesuccessauthority.com or successauthority@gmail.com.  Remember, The Success Authority is here to help you meet all of your career goals!  You never know when the moment will arise when you will need assistance with a professional issue!!!!!  I cannot wait to hear from you!  Coach April!!!!

Career Planning and Growth

This is a "speechie hello" coming to you from Coach April!  I hope your day in therapy was an incredible one!  Certainly, all of the excitement and promises of a wonderful new year have come and gone...........or have they?  What are you planning for your career?  What are your short-term and long-term career goals?  Have you experienced burnout or frustration regarding any areas of your career?  Have you thought about changing settings, applying for a new position, or even expanding your skill set in an area?

Now is the time to define your goals for your respective area of practice?  What is your goal that you plan to accomplish this month?  Next month?  By summer?  Did you know one of the reasons many therapists experience burnout is because they do not set goals for their clinical work?

Are you considering a change of setting?  Contact me today so that we may team up to design your personal success plan!  I have several packages that will fit any budget!

The Success Authority coaches SLPs across the U.S., so please forward our website and blog to all you know (colleagues, family, and friends)!  We have coaching programs for everyone!

Until we connect again, have an incredible day helping others to communicate!  --Coach April

Who Will You Help in Therapy Today?

SLPs and licensed assistants, I hope you have an incredible day of therapy planned for today.  I use the word "planned" because we have to remember to keep our patients/students/clients' progress first.  This means planning the success must happen!  How do you plan for client/student success?  Sure, the paperwork, meetings, and new policies will always be there, but we must remember that we must use the little time that we have to maximize our patient's potential for communication.  I have had so many former patients/clients/students who contact me year after year to thank me for the skills that I have provided for them to communicate with others.  I was able to do this in lieu of the administrative tasks of SLP.  I am here to help you navigate through all of the daily tasks that sometimes impact our ability to provide good, meaningful diagnostic and treatment sessions. If you need help to create a meaningful, thriving practice, then contact me at successauthority@gmail.com.  Keep those stories and clinical accounts coming, I am enjoying reaching out to each of you!
